What we measure
All four without an appointment, each bookable separately. You take the value away on a printout, and we tell you what it means.
Why this is worthwhile
Most of the values that say something about your cardiovascular risk cause no symptoms. High blood pressure does not hurt, and neither does a raised long-term blood sugar. You only notice it when something happens, or you measure.
For that, a health check at the pharmacy is the shortest route: no appointment, no referral, no three-week wait. You drop by, we measure, and you leave again with an interpretation rather than a number. What happens afterwards
After the health check we discuss the values with you. If everything is within range, we say so and you know it. If a value is unusual, we put into context how urgent it is: whether a check in four weeks is enough, whether it belongs mentioned at your next visit to the doctor, or whether you should make an appointment soon.
What we do not do: make a diagnosis. That is a matter for a doctor, and we tell you when it belongs there rather than giving you a preparation to take away.
If you take several medicines, the health check is worthwhile together with a look at your medication plan. The pharmacist consultation is the right setting for that.
We also offer the same measurements as a health day for companies, either at your premises or with us depending on size and rooms, and without a list of names for the employer. Measuring there works as it does with us: all analyses are licensed, we work to a quality management system, and professional responsibility always lies with our responsible pharmacist.
Frequently asked questions about the measurements
Do I have to come fasting?
Not for blood pressure and CRP. For meaningful blood sugar and cholesterol values it is better not to have eaten for at least eight hours. Give us a quick call and we will tell you what is needed for your question.
How often should I have this done?
With unremarkable values and no symptoms, once a year is enough. More often if there is a family history or known risk factors.
Does this replace a visit to the doctor?
No. It is a snapshot that shows whether a visit to the doctor makes sense, and that helps you keep an eye on an existing finding.
Can I bring my own readings?
Gladly. If you measure your blood pressure at home, bring the list along; for interpretation that is worth more than a single measurement with us.
