Pharmacist consultation in Cham, no referral needed

Four subjects, one setting

What we talk about

Most often it is about these four. Your question does not have to be among them for an appointment to make sense.

Most common
Medication and interactionsWe go through your medication plan, including anything over the counter. Bring everything you take.
Discreet
ContraceptionIn a closed room, without an audience at the counter. That is exactly what the consultation is for.
With knowledge of the active ingredients
Nutrition and micronutrientsWhat makes sense in your situation, and what you can save your money on. Without any sales pressure.
The honest answer
Do I need a doctor now?We listen and put it in context. If it belongs with a doctor, we say so rather than giving you something to take away.

In private, with a diploma

The consultation is held by a qualified pharmacist, depending on who is on duty that day. The conversation takes place in the closed consulting room, in private.

You need no referral and no particular reason. If you would like time for a thorough conversation, a phone call or a visit is enough.

What the time is there for

There are questions that have no place at the counter. Not because they are complicated, but because someone is waiting behind you and because some things nobody discusses standing up.

All your medication at once. Anyone taking several preparations often has them from different places: from the family doctor, from the specialist, plus something off the shelf and something from the drugstore. Nobody sees the whole picture – unless you bring it along. We go through the plan and check what weakens or strengthens what.

Contraception. In a closed room, without an audience. That is the reason the room exists at all. You can also get emergency contraception (the “morning-after pill”) from us, after a short, confidential conversation.

Nutrition and micronutrients. What makes sense in your situation, and what you can save your money on. We also tell you when a preparation does nothing. How we advise on Bach flowers, Schuessler salts and micronutrients is described on the natural remedies page.

And the question that comes up most often: do I really need a doctor now? We listen, put it in context and answer that. Sometimes the answer is yes, and then we say so rather than giving you something that only delays matters.

When a health check belongs with it

Many questions are easier to judge when there are numbers involved. We measure blood pressure, blood sugar or cholesterol immediately beforehand, and then we talk about values rather than assumptions. More on this under health checks.

That is worthwhile above all for things that develop gradually: high blood pressure does not hurt, and neither does a raised long-term blood sugar. Anyone who has measured both once is talking about something concrete rather than a feeling.

What the consultation is not

It is not a medical consultation. We do not make diagnoses and we do not prescribe. What we can do: put things in context, check, explain, and tell you when the way to the doctor is the right one.

For many people the consultation is therefore the quicker route. You get an appointment within a few days rather than in three weeks, and afterwards you know whether a visit to the doctor is needed at all.

Frequently asked questions

Frequently asked questions about the consultation

What is the difference to normal advice at the counter?

The consultation takes place in a separate room, with a fixed appointment and without interruptions. You have time to raise everything that is on your mind.

Which subjects can I raise in the consultation?

Almost anything to do with your health and your medication. Interactions, chronic conditions, food supplements, sleep, hormone questions, contraception and much more.

How long does a consultation take?

As a rule 20 to 30 minutes. For complex subjects longer too; we take the time it needs.

What does the consultation cost?

We bill the consultation by duration. We tell you the amount when you arrange the appointment, before you agree to it. If it is about your medication, basic insurance covers part of it, and we check that for you beforehand.
